I still haven't quite figured out what to use LJ for. I've been vaguely trying to post about (some of the) books that I've been reading. I actually keep a separate journal, but am not inclined to post it to the web.

I came up with a solution to my dilemma about my photos site. When I was using webshots, I would post a new album with every photo shooting excursion. When I made re-did my photo site, I made topic albums and coalesced several shoots into a few albums with far fewer shots.

I think the overall quality is better and the number of photos is a lot less overwhelming while the total amount of good photos is undiminished.

The problem is, it means when I do go shooting, I don't have anywhere to post (just) new shots, particularly if none of the shots I got in my trip were good enough to displace any of the existing photos in the albums. So, I thusly made a Recent Photos album which will just contain the collection of recent shots. Currently, I have the shots from last weekend's excursion to Monterey. I should point out that "recent" doesn't imply I'm going to be updating it frequently, just that it'll contain an assortment of most-recently-shot photos.

In other news, I recently accepted a contracting job in Santa Barbara. This ought to be interesting.

I just ordered Moonbase Commander from amazon. $17. Penny Arcade has been raving about it rather alarmingly.

On another topic, the fact that people heal when they break still amazes me whenever I see it. A few days ago I fell while blading (a sidewalk and I disagreed about where my wheels were going to be while passing over a crack .. it won). I didn't damage anything too badly, but I got some scrapes. And now a few days later they're mostly gone.
