A few weeks ago after a flight from Santa Barbara, I made an entry that said I wished I had a camera with me. There was a light fog blanketing the south bay. It was lit from below and as the plane swept out over the bay during its approach to SJC, I looked out the window and saw something vaguely similar to the image to the left. It doesn't really capture the way the clouds looked luminescent. The blanket of fog was lit from below by the numerous powerful lights. Behind the blanket of fog, the hills rose into the deep, dark blue night sky dotted with an unusually large number of visible stars.
I realized on a later flight that a P&S camera would never have really captured it. Some things should be seen in person.
